Welcome to IDA Alabama

Joyfully celebrating our 20th year as an IDA Branch!

Our charter members met for the first time on April 26, 2003 and for 20 years now, our IDA-AL branch has continued to pursue our mission to educate, empower, and ensure literacy for all Alabamians – especially those who face the challenges of dyslexia. Our purpose has evolved over the past 20 years as we seek to empower students, educators, and families touched by dyslexia to have more success, less stress, and more time to play. This link will take you to the minutes of that first meeting and will provide you with a glimpse of our earliest efforts to become an IDA Branch.

IDA Alabama is a state-level organization charged with carrying out the mission and goals of the International Dyslexia Association, and promoting activities related to dyslexia awareness, appropriate reading instruction, testing and tutoring information, and partnering with other organizations concerned with dyslexia in Alabama.

IDA and its members are a resource for individuals with dyslexia, their families, teachers, and educational professionals around the world. As both IDA Alabama and IDA are non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with dyslexia, we invite you to join our work and to become a member of IDA and thus a member of our IDA-AL Branch.  Be sure to use the back button on your browser after using this link!

As a member of IDA, you will receive regular information about managing dyslexia through online publications, access to an international network of professionals in the field, discounts on conference fees and publications from our online store, quarterly journals, and affiliation with IDA Alabama, opening a gateway to a learning community of other individuals sharing our mission within your state. Please consider joining us in this worthy journey, until everyone can read.
